We’re partnering together with Vineyard leaders across the movement for CauseCon 2016. These leaders from all over the Vineyard will be representing many
different areas of interest and ministry. You’ll have the chance to press into the purpose of your life and the meaning for which you were created by engaging with these groups, hearing their vision, and asking questions. You’ll have plenty of time to respond in worship, asking God what he has call
d you to. One of the groups attending is the Vineyard Justice Network (VJN).
Vineyard Justice Network’s Vision:
The Vineyard Justice Network exists to empower Vineyard pastors and leaders to pursue and enact the justice of God’s kingdom. VJN focuses on the interconnectivity of freeing slaves, ending poverty, and tending creation, as well as other key areas of injustice, such as nurturing reconciliation. VJN will equip you by connecting the work of heart, head, and hands with key issues of structural injustice and leadership.
The History of VJN:
VJN was created as VAST-Vineyard Anti Slavery Team by a team of people who were involved in the issues of Human Trafficking here and abroad. But the more they taught, trained and engaged with others on the issue of human trafficking, the more they saw how interrelated all of the “justice” issues are… You can’t talk about human trafficking… it’s causes, it’s effects on society, and prevention strategies, without bringing poverty, racial inequality, gender inequality, immigration and more into the conversation. Their eyes were opened to the absolute necessity of understanding how these all come together to bring destruction to an already broken world. The church MUST not only get involved, but lead, because without God, there is no hope of really seeing change.
Why VJN is at CauseCon:
The justice of the Kingdom is part of Vineyard’s DNA, and as such, should be part of every Vineyard believer. They want to excite our future Vineyard pastors, leaders, thinkers and doers with the imperative of making the furtherance of God’s justice throughout the world a priority and a reality.
The keys to this are research and knowledge, training and experience, communication and discussion, and perhaps most importantly, a renewal of our hearts to bring about a renewed passion for experiencing the justice and mercy of God in our own lives, and the lives of others.
What you can expect at their booth:
VJN plans to share from their experience, as well as the stories of others who are DOING the stuff as it relates to justice in the Kingdom… and to provide concrete ways to respond and engage with justice related issues in a biblical, Jesus modeled, Spirit empowered way.
