Friday Workshops

Like a map, guiding principles offer us an aim and guide us along life's path. Our guiding principles offer the best version of ourselves while helping to navigate around the noise and distraction of our everyday lives.

Facilitator: Chris Knudsen
Chris was born in the mile high city of Denver, Colorado and grew up in Columbus, OH and graduated from The Ohio State University. He married the beautiful Becca Knudsen and they have two wonderful children, Eloise nine and Soren seven. Becca and Chris currently live in Arvada, Colorado and are a part of the Mile High Vineyard. Chris is the coordinator for Faithwalking in the Vineyard, which has expanded across the United States and into England.

During this conversation we will be exploring what the in and outs of church planting look like.  How to build a team, plant a church, communicate effectively with your leaders, resolve conflict well, and the bravery of saying no.

Facilitator: Dania Harder
Dania, along with her husband Joshua Harder, pastor the Houston Vineyard.  They planted and pastored Vereda, a vineyard church in Mexico City for eleven years. They have been married for 18 years and have 3 children. Dania has been working in full time ministry on and off for 13 years. She grew up in Mexico City and is now adjusting, along with her family, to life in the USA. She holds a Practical Theology Degree from Christ for the Nations Institute and a B.A in Sociology from Dallas Baptist University.

Do you want to lead a thriving, growing church or ministry?  If so, there are certain challenges that inherently go with the territory!  This workshop will help you navigate what some of those challenges are, and how to overcome them!

Facilitator: Brian T. Anderson
Brian, and his wife, Thora, are the founding Pastors of Vineyard Church of North Phoenix. The church has grown over the years from a home Bible Study into a congregation of over 4,500 weekend attenders. VCNP has planted 13 other Vineyard churches in the Phoenix area, and in Delhi, India. In addition to being the Vice President of Vineyard USA, Brian is also the Regional Coach for all 16 Vineyard USA Regional Leaders. Brian and Thora have two children, Zoe and Luke, who are both teenagers.

Learning how to be intentionally leaning into and catching the wind of the Holy Spirit, will be the key to experiencing real, meaningful relationships with God and others. Join us as we challenge ourselves to be the ones that help create a culture and anticipation of the Spirit's work in our lives. We will be exploring the ways that we can orientate ourselves toward....and give our hearts over to the presence of the Holy Spirit even more.

Facilitator: Brenda Gatlin
Brenda is a Senior Pastor at Duluth Vineyard and is the Regional Leader for the Midwest North Region, serving and caring for 7 Area Pastors and about 54 local churches in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and the Chicago, IL area. She is passionate about seeing people become whole and be a right reflection of who God is. Her favorite ways to spend spare time are long talks over coffee with friends and riding her motorcycle along with her husband Michael up the North Shore of Lake Superior.

In the Vineyard movement, we value "culturally relevant mission." However, it is often hard to discern between "cultural relevance" and the embrace of cultural norms that are opposed to the gospel of the Kingdom. At this workshop, we will tackle this problem head on, developing practical frameworks to help you think about what it means to be the "salt of the earth" and the "light of the world" in 2020.

Facilitator: Caleb Maskell
Caleb Maskell leads the Society of Vineyard Scholars and the Vineyard Education Initiative. He is a historian of American religion, with a Ph.D. in Religion from Princeton University and an M.Div. from Yale Divinity School. He has also been a church planter, pastor, and worship leader in the Vineyard movement for nearly twenty-five years, helping to plant Vineyard churches in Chicago and New Haven. Until recently, he was Worship Pastor at Blue Route Vineyard in suburban Philadelphia. Caleb is passionate about developing leaders and institutions that will help to produce a healthy, courageous, and hospitable future for the church in the 21st century. He lives in Media, Pennsylvania with his wife Kathy, their son Josiah and their daughter Emmanuelle.

Saying Yes to a request without knowing the ‘how’ may seem foolish, or short-sighted, but when you know the One making the request, Yes becomes the starting point of life-changing growth for yourself and others. When the Gilbert Vineyard was presented with the opportunity to care for Asylum-Seeking families, this is what our Yes looked like.

Facilitator: Linda Kaake
Lori Kaake is a wife, mother, avid knitter, and passionate lover of Jesus.  She and her family live in Chandler, Arizona and have been part of the Gilbert Vineyard for 13 years.

In the midst of discerning vocational calling, all of us find ourselves navigating our ever changing relationships between family members, spouses, and children.  What does the Kingdom of God look like really practically in all these areas of life, particularly while balancing the needs of family and ministry? Join Chalane and Chris for a practical conversation on balance, ministry, and family.

Facilitator: Chalane Coit and Chris Honess
Chalane Coit is Senior Pastor of Vineyard Community Church in Grand Junction, CO. She has been part of the Vineyard Tribe since 1994 and became a Pastor in 2001. Chalane has been very happily married to Tad for 29 years and they have 2 beloved adults sons, Beau and Keenan.

Chris and Angie will be married five years in May of 2020. They have two children of their own and have fostered four children who are refugees from Africa (current ages: 9, 11, 14, and 18) who were reunited with their birth families in 2018. They have made Syracuse, NY their home where Chris pastors the Westcott Site of the Syracuse Vineyard Church and Angie has taught inclusive pre-K in their wonderful neighborhood near Syracuse University.

Saturday Workshops

Spiritual Practices are those practices in our lives that increase our capacity for more and allow us to know our value is meant in Jesus. Our practices help to offer breakthrough in becoming the kind of people we always imagine becoming. Spiritual Practices don't have to be complicated but often times we ask the wrong questions when engaging our spiritual practices. So, what is the breakthrough you hope to get out of your spiritual practices?

Facilitator: Chris Knudsen

He married the beautiful Becca Knudsen and they have two wonderful children, Eloise nine and Soren seven. Becca and Chris currently live in Arvada, Colorado and are a part of the Mile High Vineyard. We're going to talk through some good topics together: the Bible and women leaders; the call to lead in ministry; sustainability in ministry and leadership; and the support available within the Vineyard. This is a great workshop for women discerning the call, current women leaders, and the men who champion them.

Many of us believe that God’s will for our lives is like a cat and mouse game that we might miss or mess up if we don’t stay right with God.  This leads to much anxiety and stress. In this workshop we will discuss some of Rich Nathan’s helpful resource called Liberating Thoughts on God’s Will for Your Life and talk through some practical ways of hearing God’s voice for you.
